Pray for them

While Gustav was calm in the grand scheme of things, pray for all those affected by his fury. Most of my family is fine, still waiting on a few to report in. Most only without power.

The location of the family reunion that I was at is currently seeing the eastern edge of the storm. Many of my family evacuated from the reunion to parts North.

Halfway through!

Weekend at home

Very busy weekend. I was up at 7, and have already started straightening up the house and preparing the designs for the banners I am working on. I hope to have a few friends over to help with the banners. I don't know if anyone is coming over. Today is Lughnasad, so I expect most people to be there. It's too hot for me to go out there, without having access to air conditioning, so home I stay.

So, this week I think I officially started to show. I'm at 19 weeks and starting to feel the baby move on occasion. I go in for my next sonogram on the 19th. We are excited.

I love my new iPhone. The more I learn the more I like it! I got it to sync my work email and calendar, which makes me very, very happy. I really hate caring my day planner, as much as I love the system, this way I hope to not have to carry that weight around.

Of course, yesterday was the day I put my wallet in my computer bag, then never had it with me when I needed to pay for something. My old co-worker had to pay for lunch, and I had to put the gel for my iPhone back cause the wallet was not with me. Then, the low fuel light came on. Just not my day at all.

Tomorrow so friends and their kids are coming over. It'll be good to see them again, it's been a while and they are cool people.

Well, time to get started on the rest of the work in the house. People may show up in an hour.

Sorry for missing Queen's guys, I miss you all. But, at 4:10 pm, my sister and her hubby and son welcomed Sydney Aaryn Jay into the world. Both mom and baby are doing well.

Yes, a dear friend sent me this picture. It's apparently in a mall in Northern California. I'm afraid.

Your result for The Ultimate Answer to Life, The Universe, and Everything Test...

The Explorer

You scored 33% Egocentricism, 41% Heirarchy, 71% Spiritualityand 44% Morality!

You are the Explorer!
Something is missing. Your giving and spiritual nature has not yet found its reason for being. The higher power and cosmic justice which give your nature meaning are out there, but you can't find them among the many pretenders. Organized religion seems so close, but somehow missing the point- perhaps because you have not found one that convinces you that order and justice can exist in this world. You are The Missionary without the message.

You are mostly selfless. You do not believe in an ordered universe or necessarily in an ordered society. The Soul is more important to you than the physical world. You do not believe there is justice.

You SHOULD: Travel and experience other cultures in the same way that the locals do. This will not necessarily require a significant budget- which you are unlikely to have if you are staying true to yourself; you can do it by volunteering with philanthropic organizations.

You should NOT: Be too quick to settle down. You probably wont find a soul mate until you find your own soul, so have a few meaningful but fun relationships without making too many long-term promises. Become tied down financially or professionally.

Your life will be: Fascinating.

Your life may be: Inspirational.

Your life will not be: Stable.

Your opposite is: The Conqueror.

Your companion is: The Counselor.

Well, I have to say that my class was an unqualified success! My students all did their pre-work, the format worked well, despite having to change classrooms due to a scheduling snaffu. I'll have to look at the calendar and see what events have indoor venues that this would work with.

So, 3 groups, 5 completed banners and at least 8 fans made. It was a good day. I'm exhausted today.

Gleann Abhann is both stronger and weaker today. Stronger for having the joy of counting her as one of her own, weaker for her passing from this world.

It's been too crazy the last few months. Here are few bullet points, and then I'll follow with another post that deserves it's own post.

  • Work sucks- I love my job, but recents events have made things unbearable. Hopefully our team will get it together and pull their collective heads out. Me, I'll just continue to act like everyone I work with is competent.
  • Just got home from a soul-restoring trip to Georgia/Meridies for Sir Geoffrey's knighting (of GAA fame) - Man, I needed that in big way
  • Tomas is in NY at his Annual Training for the Navy
  • Daniel is in Georgia for his annual visit to the inlaws.
  • I've been a bum and slept and vegged with my dead time this week
  • My to-do list is long, and ain't getting any shorter.
  • Tomorrow I work from home. Yea! I need a drama free day.

Springfaire is over...we survived

All in all, it ended up as a fabulous event. After a shaky start (literally, 55 mph wind gusts on Friday night) everything got going once we reset up most of the site after the winds died down.

Genevieve was awesome as a first time autocrat, and while there is much to be done to the site to make it ideal, it does have a lot of potential. Oh, and even though last year's Springfaire had a Pirate theme, it is NOT an ongoing event theme. Where individuals got the idea that Springfaire this year had a pirate theme I have no idea.

Had a great time fighting in the Guardian of the Gauntlet tournament. The format was interesting and challenging. I only fought Dons/Donas all day. I beat 2 that I never beat before. Go me!

Thanks to my hubby for keeping tabs on things for me during the tournament so I could fight. Especially after the dedication he showed between coming to the event, setting up everything that needed to get set up, then running into Hillsboro and working until 4:30 am toward a deadline, came back to site, took a nap then up and playing the good knight.

The Elfsea/Steppes Iron Star team got the band back together, and after a long and hard round robin, followed by a second equally hard round robin we took the Iron Star back. No doubt that Lord Uilliac was our MVP, and Ari rocked in her second tournament with the team.

My best tournament moment was during one of the fights against team Delayed Banishment when I had a sword pointed at Corvin and a sword pointed at Caitlyn, keeping them from becoming a threat to anyone else. I found out later that Uilliac was over my shoulder, helping me keep them in line. Even though, it was very cool to feel like a real threat on the field.

Yes, I went to a wedding that had very close ties with Natchitoches, LA. You know that Steel Magnolia's was filmed there. And yes, the groom's cake was an armadillo.

I look horrible, but the cake was great! And, yes, it was red velvet. The sunburn was courtesy of the 1 hour drive to the wedding in the 1967 Firebird convertible that we delivered for the getaway car.

It was the AWESOME! No makeup or heels, but a damn fine show. The Majestic is a small theatre with no bad seat.

So......many of you know I was part of the AWESOME workshop 2 weekends ago that Aurora Blaze put on with Jo "Boobs" Weldon.  I'm now hooked on burlesque, and have spent more money on costume elements for certain numbers. I never thought I'd give burlesque a serious thought. I gave the workshop a try because of the awesome women that were attending.

I'm hooked. So, I've decided to create a filter on LJ for my burlesque stuff. Comment here if you want to be added to the filter.
